North West REC offers members rebates and incentives on products that promote energy efficiency and help you save money for years into the future. Below are the categories and the requirements to meet in order to qualify for rebates and incentives. If you have any questions, contact us before purchasing any product.

No form is needed for ASHPs, GSHPs, and Mini-Split Heat Pumps units simply submit copies of the invoice for the rebated equipment to North West REC, and a representative for North West REC will inspect the installation prior to the rebate being paid to verify that it has been installed and is operating

Additional Federal & State Tax Credits
Federal Tax Credit the Energy Efficiency Property Tax Credit (residential credit) for GHPs is 30% of total installation cost. Find more information about the tax credit here and find Federal Form 5695 for filing on the Internal Revenue website.

Marathon Water Heaters

We sell super energy-efficient Marathon water heaters directly to our members (and only to North West REC members). We sell the water heaters at the rebated price, you do not need to apply for the rebate.

Must have a load management switch installed to receive rebate.

Must have a load management switch installed to purchase an 85 or 100 gal water heater.

Rebate is for the main water heater only, it does not include storage tanks for geothermal.

Member must have the water heater installed and hooked up to the switch with 90 days of purchase and let office know it is done or NWREC is allowed to bill the member for the amount of the rebate they received on the water heater.

New Electric Appliances
To be eligible for a rebate:

The appliance must be ENERGY STAR-rated (documentation needs to be provided). You can attach a copy of your yellow energy guide with the energy star logo (shown to the right) on it. Use this guide to determine if your appliance is energy star certified Energy Certification Guide.

You must provide documentation (print the Energy Star Appliance Rebate Form) fill out and return to North West REC). Also attach a copy of your purchase receipt with model and serial numbers.

Must be a member of North West REC and be installed on NWREC's lines.

Each member-consumer is limited to a maximum of $250 in combined appliance rebates per calendar year.

Program Criteria and Requirements:

Participants of “You Pull the Plug” agree to self-remove and recycle qualifying appliances via an approved and certified appliance de-manufacturer.*
-
Participants of “You Pull the Plug” will receive a $50 rebate, per qualifying appliance, up to three (3) appliances, per calendar year.

Program Implementation:

Appliance(s) must be clean, empty, and in working order when recycled/disposed of by NWREC member.

Appliance(s) may only be delivered to or be picked up by company/facility* that verifies recycling/decommissioning.

$50 rebate includes all costs incurred by participant to self-remove and recycle qualifying appliance(s).

Dated copy of receipt by the certified vendor/landfill/recycler must accompany the “You Pull the Plug” rebate application form (available from our office or online). Company/facility must specify appliance type in writing.

NWREC member certifies that the item(s) listed in application have been removed from member’s location served by NWREC.

NWREC reserves the right to modify (including incentive levels) or terminate this program without prior or further notice.

Insulation
To be eligible for a rebate:

The building must be all electric as the primary heating source with electric backup. Includes new or existing homes, ag and commercial buildings.

Insulation must be professionally installed for blown-in, AeroSheild, insulating concrete forms, rigid Styrofoam panels and/or structural insulated panel type insulation

To receive your rebate, download the Insulation Rebate Form, fill it out and return the completed form to North West REC along with a copy of your invoice/receipt.
Residential Rebate (includes houses & attached garages)

Variable Speed and Soft Start Motors
More than half of all electrical energy consumed in the U.S. is used by electric motors. Improving the efficiency of electric motors and the equipment they drive can save energy, reduce operating costs and improve our nation's productivity. We encourage our members to make energy efficiency a major consideration when purchasing motors.

As an incentive to our customers, North West REC offers a rebate for variable-speed energy efficient motors installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building that is served by North West REC.
​
Soft-start devices installed on an existing motor which is installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building served by North West REC also qualify for a rebate. (The rebate amount is based on the horsepower of the motor that the soft-start device is connected to.) Seasonal applications are not eligible. There is a maximum rebate of $5,000 per motor.

Energy Efficiency is Important
Everyone benefits from conserving energy. For that reason, the Member Service department offers energy assessments to assist members in discovering the best ways to save energy in the home.

Steps in the assessment process

Schedule an appointment by calling our office. Note that for the assessment to be effective, there must be at least a 30 degree difference between the inside and outside temperatures so our infrared camera will work effectively.

On the day of the assessment, one of our member service personnel will walk through your home with you to look for possible ways to save energy. By using an infrared camera, he or she will help you visually see where conditioned air is leaking out of your home.

The assessor will discuss energy efficiency suggestions for potential savings. Simple changes in both lifestyle and in the home will pay you back year after year. Some of the potential improvements may be very inexpensive to implement, and there may be rebates or other incentives to help you implement other changes.
